There are hundreds of ways to predict the future! The past, and the Present moments! Since the beginning of time, the knowing of the future has always been a topic of interest, study and experimentation.

Bones/Shells

Casting Bones, also called throwing bones, is a type of cleromancy divination involving the casting of lots. It connects you to the spirit realm or helps you communicate with your ancestors, deities, or spirit guides.

Palmistry

Simply put, palmistry is the art of analyzing the physical features of the hands to interpret personality characteristics and predict future happenings. Within palm reading, hands are considered portals that shed invaluable insight.

Astrology

Western astrology is a form of divination based on the construction of a horoscope for an exact moment, such as a person's birth. Planetary events, and placements are studied to determine character, patterns and destiny of each individual person.

Scrying

Scrying, also referred to as "seeing" or "peeping," is a practice rooted in divination and fortune-telling. It involves gazing into a medium, hoping to receive significant messages or visions that could offer personal guidance, prophecy, revelation, or inspiration. This is often done with a mirror, specifically a black mirror. Some practitioners will look into a regular mirror while in the pitch black darkness for the same purpose.

Pendulum Dowsing

Dowsing is when a pendulum swings in reaction to a force. Some believe pendulum divination is a way to get in touch with spirit guides. Others think they tap into your own intuition or subconscious. Perhaps it's a combination of both. In either case, the pendulum is allowed to swing freely while you ask a yes or no question. The direction the pendulum swings answers your question.

Tasseography

Tasseography is a fortune-telling method that interprets patterns in tea leaves, coffee grounds, and even wine sediments. For centuries, the art of reading Turkish coffee grounds has been a tradition in many countries.

Dreams

Oneiromancy, prophetic divination from dreams, considered a divine act in most ancient cultures and surviving to modern times in certain folk traditions. Oneiromancy is based on the belief that dreams are messages sent to the soul by gods or the dead, most often as warnings.

Pyromancy/Capnomancy/Carromancy

Pyromancy is the art of divination by means of fire or flames. Capnomancy is divination by examining smoke. Carromancy, is a form of divination involving wax. See on our Candles page.

Runes/Dice

Astragalomancy is a form of dice divination that uses astragalus dice. Astragalus dice (astragali) are special dice that have markings on all six sides. These dice can be used for many purposes, and originally Astragalomancy was a dice divination method that used the knucklebones of a sheep or goat.

Numerology

Numerology (known prior to the 20th century as arithmancy) is the belief in an occult, divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It is also the study of the numerical value, via an alphanumeric system, of the letters in words and names.

Tarot/Playing Cards

Cartomancy refers to using any cards to tell fortunes or for inner guidance. Forms of cartomancy appeared soon after playing cards were introduced into Europe in the 14th century. Practitioners of cartomancy are generally known as cartomancers, card readers, or simply readers.

Water/Bath Dowsing

Lecanomancy is a form of divination using a dish, usually of water, which, like many ancient forms of divination, has multiple forms. The earliest form of lecanomancy appears to have come from Ancient Babylonia, though it is only mentioned in one text. Even there, there were two types of the divination used.

Ouija/Spirit Boards

The Ouija, also known as a Oujia Board, spirit board, talking board, or witch board, is a flat board marked with the letters of the Latin alphabet, the numbers 0–9, the words "yes", "no", and occasionally "hello" and "goodbye", along with various symbols and graphics. It uses a planchette (a small heart-shaped piece of wood or plastic) as a movable indicator to spell out messages during a séance.

Participants place their fingers on the planchette, and it is moved about the board to spell out words. The name "Ouija" is a trademark of Hasbro (inherited from Parker Brothers, but is often used generically to refer to any talking board.
